EMC carried out thermal and waterproof insulation works for 204 m² of metal roofing at Al Shaheed Radwan School in Al Basarta, for the Cooperative Production Association for Construction and Development in Damietta.

The works included treatment and preparation of the metal sheets, fastening of joints and connections, corrosion protection, followed by Polyurethane Foam application and an acrylic protective coating for UV and weather resistance.

Scope of Work

Inspection and preparation of the metal roof.
Sanding and removal of rust and deteriorated coatings.
Fastening of metal sheets, joints, and connections.
Complete cleaning of dust and sanding residues.
Application of anti-corrosion primer to treated areas.
Spray application of Polyurethane Foam across the full roof area.
Inspection and measurement of the foam layer to verify the required thickness.
Application of an acrylic protective coating for UV and weather resistance.
Final inspection and handover.

Case Study

The Challenge

The main challenge was the presence of corrosion and deteriorated coatings on sections of the metal roof, along with the need to secure and reinforce joints and connections before applying the insulation system.

The Solution

Corroded areas were sanded and deteriorated coatings were removed, followed by fastening of the metal sheets and complete roof cleaning. An anti-corrosion primer was then applied before spraying Polyurethane Foam. The foam thickness was inspected, followed by an acrylic protective coating for final UV and weather protection.

The Result

The project successfully delivered an integrated thermal and waterproof insulation system after corrosion treatment and metal sheet stabilization, helping reduce water leakage risks and heat transfer while providing additional protection against UV exposure and weather conditions.
